Austin Yeargan III MD, is an orthopedic sports medicine surgeon and the regenerative orthopedist at The Regenerative Medicine Clinic in Wilmington, North Carolina. Dr. Yeargan focuses on finding the most natural, least invasive, and most efficacious cellular and molecular-based treatment options available so his patients can return to doing what they love as quickly as possible.
A native of Raleigh, North Carolina, Dr. Yeargan earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill prior to attending East Carolina University School of Medicine in Greenville, North Carolina, for his Doctor of Medicine. Dr. Yeargan completed his general surgery internship and orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Hawaii in Honolulu, where he spent six months at the Tripler Army Medical Center and six months at Shriners’ Hospital for Children, both in Honolulu.
While in Hawaii, Dr. Yeargan gained additional expertise by completing two years of clinical and bench research, focusing on cellular and molecular level changes in thermal capsulorrhaphy and cartilage injury. He then went on to the world-class Steadman Clinic in Vail, Colorado, to complete his sports medicine, adult shoulder, elbow, and knee fellowship. During his fellowship training, Dr. Yeargan worked with the Colorado Rockies, Denver Broncos, Denver Nuggets, and the United States Ski and Snowboard teams.
After gaining years of clinical experience, Dr. Yeargan was introduced to stem cell therapy in 2010. Since that time, he has been recognized as one of the top 10 “orthopedic leaders to know” and a top orthopedic and spine surgeon, as well as an orthopedic surgeon at the forefront of stem cell therapy. At his practice, The Regenerative Medicine Clinic, Dr. Yeargan offers telemedicine consultations and provides care for patients from all over the country.
Due to his strong interest in regenerative medicine, Dr. Yeargan continuously conducts research to advance the field. He has lectured and written on musculoskeletal topics at the national and international level and has been published in peer-reviewed scientific journals and has contributed to academic textbooks.
