We offer a variety of classes and workshops open to makers of all skill levels. Sessions are guided by craftspeople in various trades, including furniture makers, woodworkers, contractors, and do-it-yourself enthusiasts. Group projects are an exciting way to familiarize yourself with different tools and learn effective techniques. "I couldn’t remember the last time I had satisfied what I now realize to be a primal need to make something tangible. As a young adult, I was so out of touch with my hands that I would rely on my husband to simply hang a picture frame. After years of watching channels like HGTV and DIY Network, I decided to overcome my fear of hand tools and make something awesome. A wooden side table seemed simple enough, but I immediately ran into four major obstacles: no work or storage space, unreliable resources, not enough time to pick up supplies, and little disposable income to buy tools for one time use. With time, I eventually turned a 10' board of cherry into a round side table with angled legs. Instantaneously, my hands and heart were opened to a world that had once seemed inaccessible to women. I felt empowered and capable, but I also realized that there is truly more to an object than meets the eye, everything has a maker and a story and is purposely made. That was a beautiful moment in my life, and I think that all people should have that experience, regardless of their gender, background, or skill level. As a result, The DIY Joint was launched in 2016. The mission of our team is to empower men and women with the skills, space, and tools to make more. Our goal is to create a fun, welcoming, and safe environment for everyone. I hope that our journey encourages and motivates the maker in you. It’s not about what you make, it’s about how it makes you feel." -Priscilla Van Houten, Founder & Owner

I took the Milling Lumber class a couple of years ago which had a great impact on me. Since then, woodworking has become an big part of my life. Thank you Priscilla.

I've been a member of the DIY Joint for a couple of years now and it's been perfect in giving me space and equipment to be creative and work on my personal designs and pieces. The choice of machines as well as classes is great! This workshop is a great option for those who have been making things for years and want space to build, as well as those who are just getting started and are looking for something fun. The owner of DIY Joint, Priscilla, has created a space for both.

We celebrated part of my sister's bachelorette weekend at the DIY Joint! We had a blast! We all came to the class with no experience using most of the machines or working with many of the tools. Priscilla was clear and thorough in her explanation! The class is a huge step up from the "wine and paint" option. We made beautiful serving trays from one long piece of wood. The whole experience was educational, empowering, while also being light-hearted and tons of fun! We will definitely be back!

I've been to DIY Joint multiple times - a few times as part of a 16 hour furniture making class as well as for a corporate team bonding event - so you can trust me when I say that you should absolutely go! The furniture making class was great. Instruction was really clear - you know what you need to do and how to safely use the heavy machinery in the workshop. It's a really good feeling to create something big from scratch AND gain new skills to continue to create in the future. The furniture making class also certifies you to use open studio, so you can keep exercising those newfound skills. I'm so excited to start my own projects from scratch! The corporate team bonding event was also really fun. In less than 3 hours we created a small project that we could take home in the same evening. Every single person on my team had a lot of fun and I'm already thinking about doing another private event for my birthday in a year.

The staff was so dilligent and friendly. I was so happy with my project. They accommodated me and went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure my project came out as nice as possible and be ready on time. I will be forever grateful.
