Difficult life events at times can have a lasting impact in our lives. These experiences are not limited to war veterans or victims of assault. They can be childhood or adulthood events, such as being subjected to harsh punishments, being mistreated, or being involved in an accident.
When stressed, people respond with anxiety, anger, depression, etc. These forms of responding to stress can become a way of coping, contributing to unhappiness. People can also experience cycles of anxiety and depression that have serious impacts in their lives.
I know how devastating these symptoms can be and the hesitation to seek treatment, specially if you have seen a therapist in the past and continue to feel “stuck” or have seen limited results.
