Southern California Sunrise Recovery Mental Health is nothing but a money hungry, pill pushing “mental health facility”. They are currently being looked into by the CA medical board for malpractice and negligence. After being baited through their very deceptive website and admissions process, I thought I would be setting my family member up for success during a time of need. Not only are their daily process and procedures inconsistent (randomly allowing residents to have their personal phones - knowing it’s a major trigger.. which even led to a hospitalization) but they have absolutely NO assistance for transitioning, aftercare or family support.. because it doesn’t make them MONEY. They fully medicated my family member on SIX different medications for almost a month - and discharged her with nothing. NOTHING. Not only did this cause withdrawals, but also created a huge mental health set back. The exact reason we started the “journey” at Sunrise. When reaching out for assistance during this stressful (and unexpected) situation, we were advised she was “no longer in their care”. Case closed. No concern and onto the next. And we wonder why mental health is such an issue these days. They have also failed to release records upon patient request. Her current psychiatrist has yet to receive anything (5 days later) from them. He is the Director of Psychiatry at our local hospital and is who advised we contact the medical board as well as the insurance company to make them aware of everything that went on during the stay at Southern California Sunrise Recovery Mental Health. Please be AWARE! This is not the place for someone suffering from a serious mental health condition - or any mental health issues in general.
