Sequoia completed her birth doula training through The Simkin Center for Allied Birth Vocations at Bastyr University in July 2016. Sequoia’s work as a doula is centered around the client and their experience in birth and parenthood. She brings a calm, confident and creative energy to prenatal visits, labor and postpartum. All birth experiences are unique, and Sequoia is comfortable and confident in many different birth settings. She values and supports her client’s decisions for their birth experience, and offers doula services to people choosing both medicated and unmedicated birth. She brings a range of comfort measures and coping techniques to birth, including optional use of a TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) unit for pain management. Sequoia believes that every parent and family deserves unconditional care, respect and dignity in their experience of pregnancy and birth, and has specialized training to work with survivors of abuse in birth. She also has experience as a volunteer doula with Full Spectrum Doulas, and is trained to support people experiencing pregnancy loss and release. Sequoia also has experience working within LGBTQ+ communities. When she is not working as a doula, Sequoia is organizing with a local art collective, printing photographs and going on bike rides around the city. Rate: $1600
