n 1977, I was returning from Catalina Island to Long Beach, California aboard my boat. While underway, I pondered as to what would be the very best method of flushing the saltwater from my newly-acquired 4 horsepower outboard motor. The marina provided barrels for this, but they were usually full of trash, dead animals, and loose chunks of scale and rust. I wouldn't do that to my new motor! I thought that the best, most efficient way to flush it would be just the same as when the motor is being used - but submerged in fresh water rather than saltwater. Back at the dock, I fashioned a bag of sorts from a plastic trash bag and hung it on my dockbox. I filled it with water and with the motor in it, I ran it and flushed it. The bag ruptured, sending a flood of water all over my feet and legs, but I at least had the basic idea, and the fact that my idea would work, so I made a canvas prototype bag and used it with great success. Others on the dock wanted one, so I began to produce a new, improved Vinyl/polyester model. I finally took several bags to a boat show, and they sold-out within the first two hours. This was my first indication that I had a viable product that will help people easily and safely flush their motors, thereby prolonging the life of their outboards by many, many years. Quality marine products, LLC was formed and we've provided thousands of high-quality, efficient, long-lasting flushing bags for outboards and sterndrives, since that first idea came to me in 1977. And I personally guarantee each and every one! The cost of the bag is considerably less that repairing a motor that has suffered salt damage. That damage is usually the waterpump being destroyed first by salt crystals tearing at the neophrene impeller, and salting-up of the passageways inside the motor that restricts the flow of cooling water, and holes eaten into the castings by the corrosive effects of the salt on aluminum. You NEED one - but your Motor REALLY NEEDS one!
