I have lived in a Midway Urban Village townhome since 2020, I have refrained from posting a review until now and here is why. The property (MUV) was sold in the summer of 2021, thus the property management changed. Under the new management of Lincoln Property Company, the complex began to have less attention and upkeep. The grill station (3qty) was always filthy, never had propane and (2qty) of the grills were broken. Understanding, with MUV recently being sold and managed by a new company, I said nothing. I figured it would take some time for the new management team to get situated. Months past and nothing was done. The DOG PARK: I would run my dogs after work every day, 7 days a week to get them exercise. I would throw the ball and they would fetch non-stop until they are drained. Originally the park had traditional hardwood mulch 2”-3” pieces as its ground cover (although not the most preferred cover for dog safety), this worked for the time being until upkeep of the parks came to a halt. The mulch eroded away, into piles due to the weather and dogs running/playing. The filter fabric became exposed all over the park (see pictures), months past and I sent an email to the management team expressing my concerns in hopes of getting the parks cleaned up. Nothing was done, I swapped to the larger park due to the conditions at the time being less severe than the other (smaller) one. One day, my younger pup had her foot get caught in the filter fabric and it broke along with her nail completely breaking in half at the base of her toe leaving behind exposed nerves. After a $600 vet bill, nursing her back to health for a few weeks, and email sent to the management team; I had a healthy pup once again, a large portion of the vet bill covered and a commitment from management to get the park fixed up. After a few weeks, the park renovation took place. I was excited as were my pups to get to playing daily again, only to find when arriving at the park the new material being used as ground cover were CHUNKS and large splintered pieces of small tree trunks and branches. Disappointed and a bit apprehensive, I gave it a shot and took my dogs in to play. For a month or so, we had no issues and lots of fun; until one day my oldest dog had a 4” piece of wood pierce through his foot. Mortified and concerned; I made another trip to the vet and again expressed my concerns to management about the new material being dangerous for dogs to play in. Only imagining the piece that pierced my dog’s foot, was instead lodged in an eye, causing severe permanent damage. The response I received from the property manager, was summed up to: Sorry to hear that, unfortunately we do not have the “budget” to fix this, my suggestion to you is to not use the park.” – with limited amenities I pay for monthly I wasn’t enthralled with his solution. The property manager came off as if he was annoyed to be bothered yet again about this park. He told me since I was the only one saying anything about the park nothing would be done (well that’s because no one takes their dogs to the park anymore; the few who do have expressed their frustrations with me on their own concerning the parks condition). A few unprofessional emails were received from the manager. The last email I received was an offer to get out of my lease with no fees or penalties to me. Sounds good right? With the market the way it is, limited available TOWNHOMES and rent prices through the roof, it’s not only extremely hard to find a place close to where I already live/ work, but my monthly rate for rent would rise even higher than the $2400 I am already spending. On top of that, the cost to move, application fees, deposits, movers etc. Oh yeah, and I just threw hundreds of dollars at the vet for the pierced foot. I have perfect rental history, I have never missed a single payment (typically making payments early), I am a good tenant. I have had my carpets shampooed by professionals every four months and as I am sure you can imagine the list goes on. I do my best to keep my place in tip-top shape. You would think Lincoln Properties wouldn’t want to lose a tenant like that. But no, they don’t want to deal with me. The manager was more concerned about me “trying to make him look bad” rather than customer service, empathy, or professionalism. He’s frustrated because I spoke up, but if I don’t nothing would ever get done. WE here at Midway Urban Village pay for these amenities so we can use and maintain them. The money spent to “renovate the park” was the CHEAPEST crap they could find. This isn’t about just my dogs this about all of the dogs who live in this community. They should have a safe place to run and play in these parks, but the property manager does not care about my animals or anyone else’s here who might potentially get injured due to the park's conditions. Sad, I love this area, and my home, but don’t come here if you are looking for a quality/pet friendly community or good management. You won’t find that here.
