Keith Monson, MD, FACS, is a general surgeon at RUSH. He earned his medical degree from RUSH Medical College and completed his residency in surgery at Michigan State University.
With 25 years of experience in cancer surgery, Monson treats cancers involving the skin, the breast and the colon and rectum. For breast cancer, his surgical treatment approaches are customized to each patient to help achieve the best cancer and cosmetic outcomes based on each patient's preference. For colorectal cancer, he uses minimally invasive techniques, such as laparoscopy and robotic-assisted surgery, when applicable. These techniques enhance patient comfort and allow for quicker recovery times.
Monson's goal is to attain the best possible cancer outcomes for his patients, while recognizing that each patient is unique and has their own individual treatment goals.
