International Traveler’s Medical Clinic is the place to go in the San Ramon, CA, and greater San Francisco Bay area to prepare for your scheduled travel outside of the United States. Medical director and chief physician W. Patrick Joseph, M.D., is an internist and infectious disease specialist who has been working in the field for more than 35 years. Kris Mendes, RN, BSN, has day-to-day responsibilities for preparing people to travel. Ms. Mendes is trained in travel medicine and has more than 11 years of experience in the field. She is familiar with all the latest information on travel vaccinations, malaria risk, prevention and management, special needs patients, high-altitude issues, and all other aspects of travel health.
International Traveler’s Medical Clinic offers the highest level of service to patients in a comfortable private setting. Each patient meets one-on-one for a private consultation to assess specific health needs and determine how the specific itinerary, planned activities, and type and duration of travel will affect preparation for the trip. The travel consultation includes current health risks for the countries on the patient’s itinerary, review and recommendations for vaccinations, precautionary measures like malaria and traveler’s diarrhea, and other health and safety issues such as insect avoidance and environmental illnesses.
Patients can usually receive all necessary vaccinations in one visit, along with any necessary prescriptions. A full immunization record, patient information sheets, and precautionary health measures will be provided. All patients receive customized recommendations based on their specific health issues and needs as well as potential risks in the countries they plan to visit that may have a greater or lesser impact on them personally (such as Zika virus for women who are pregnant). Insect repellent products are also available. International Traveler’s Medical Clinic will work directly with the patient’s primary care physician to assure coordination of care and obtain medical records if necessary.
