David Alevi, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist in New York City. At his practice, South Bronx Eyes: Dr. Alevi located in Concourse Village in the Bronx, he takes the time to get to know his patients so he can provide personalized eye care in a warm, welcoming environment.  Dr. Alevi graduated magna cum laude as a Presidential Honor Scholar from New York University (NYU) in Greenwich Village, Manhattan, from the combined bachelor of arts and medical doctor program. While earning his dual degrees, Dr. Alevi was selected for the Howard Hughes Medical Research Fellows program.  After NYU, he trained in ophthalmology at Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, New York, on Long Island. There, Dr. Alevi became chief resident during his final year of studies. He spent an additional year completing specialized training on cornea and refractive surgery at Ophthalmic Consultants of Long Island.  Today, Dr. Alevi is a corneal and refractive surgeon interested in laser-assisted cataract (femtosecond laser), LASIK, pterygiums, cornea transplants, and dry eye disease. He uses the latest technology and takes an integrative, conservative approach to treat vision problems and eye diseases.  Dr. Alevi is a published author who has been featured in major ophthalmology journals, and he has appeared on local news television, most recently for his efforts in bringing the citizens of Puerto Rico professional, affordable eye care. He is fluent in Spanish and visits Puerto Rico yearly to offer his comprehensive list of ophthalmology services.  When not at the office, Dr. Alevi enjoys jogging, watching sports, and spending time with his family. He is a second-degree black belt and at one point held the title of National Soo Bahk Do Sparring Champion.
