***BUYER BEWARE*** The seller is courteous, but dishonorable. Bottom Line Up Front: The seller did not keep to their end of the bargain upon negotiations. TL;DR: Placed deposit, inspected the vehicle, negotiated price and repairs, dealer did not hold to their end of the deal. Wednesday, July 24, 2019: I received a response from Jon regarding my online inquiry into a beautiful RV unit my family and I had fallen in love with. I inquired about costs and received a satisfactory breakdown as I’d requested. The seller advised I could leave a 5% deposit to hold the vehicle, I declined. Thursday, July 25, 2019: My family and I thought it over; I called the seller and decided to place a 5% deposit (they never actually processed my deposit) on the unit. It was at this time I was asked to submit a credit application. I told the finance manager, Ken that I would do it in the afternoon, however it was not completed until Thursday evening. Friday, July 26, 2019: Friday morning I spoke again with the finance manager where I was given financing terms if I agreed to increase the price by .02 cents. I consented to the increase and notified my family of the exciting news. Friday afternoon as we were on our trip I became increasingly concerned with the tow connections and asked the seller to send pictures of the unit, more specifically, the wire harness that attaches to my truck. I wanted to be sure I was prepared to tow the vehicle, if upon inspection, I found the vehicle to be as advertised. Saturday, July 27, 2019: Upon arrival to the dealership I was met by my salesman Jon. He was courteous and offered us water; we chatted for a few minutes before my inspection and vehicle walkthrough. The service person was nice, but not very well informed as I found him unable to answer the most basic of questions like, “why does this overhead drawer open further than the one right next to it,” or “has this trailer been used before, because the toilet was discolored.” It was on this tour where we noticed some discoloration and what looked like grease stains inside the master bed area. We then walked around outside the vehicle where I noticed a tear in the fabric. Towards the end of my tour I noticed a big red flag, the rims were not as advertised. The rims shown in the photo were nice chrome rims while the unit in the field was plain white generic rims. It just so happens I really cared about the vehicle I was about to heavily invest in and the rims mattered a great deal to me. I brought up the aforementioned issues with the finance manager in the presence of my salesman whereupon they agreed to address all 3 issues; the markings inside the master bedroom area, the tear on the canvas (although the fix may not match, but it’d be hard to notice), and they agreed to place aluminum rims on the vehicle. They notified me the availability of their restoration person was about 2 weeks out. At this point I felt we had come to a fair and reasonable negotiation, so I agreed and said it didn’t matter how long it took I just want it corrected properly. We shook hands and I was on my way. Tuesday, August 6, 2019: I receive an odd email from a woman within the organization asking if I was still interested in the vehicle. I thought this an odd email, so I replied if this was an automatic email and verified the unit was no longer for sale since I know we had an agreement in place. They responded with an email and phone call stating they were in error. Thursday, August 8, 2019: Today Jon called me to notify me they repaired the canvas, however they were unable to remove the markings inside and they were no longer in a position to change the rims as negotiated. I voiced my displeasure and let them know they were not honoring their end of the deal. I let them know that everything they asked for I delivered on; deposit, credit app, driving to pick it up, the willingness for them to complete the fixes as negotiated, and a willingness to drive back (600 mi round trip) to pick up. Jon let me know they were not going to take a loss on the unit, they were not going to change the rims, and they just could not get the stains out. He also stated that I knew the rims were not as advertised because I was sent photos. While it was true I was sent photos that included exterior pictures of the vehicle I did not look at the rims because 1) I was driving and 2) I was more concerned with the wire harness connection. All of this to say when I showed up and saw it in person on July 27th, we negotiated several fixes prior to purchase (after all pictures) and they did not hold their end of the deal. Buyers beware!
