I had electric brakes on my 5er that (with the brake controller on max) you could only barely feel kick in. This made me nervous about that 'oh crap' moment when you need to stop quickly. A number of my camping buddies have upgraded to disk brakes and they are happy. I saw the product being installed at an RV rally and was impressed. I contacted Ron about getting the package installed on my RV. I had a trip planned a couple months out, and told him I'd like it done prior to that trip. He was able to accommodate this request. He scheduled the install to take place over a 2 day window (to hopefully avoid weather issues).
Johnnie was the installer that came to my residence and did the installation on site (this is a nice convenience). Johnnie contacted me ~a week prior to our appointment to make sure everything was as planned. He seemed very knowledgeable and personable. He was willing to answer any and all questions I had. When completed, I took the rig for a short (12 mile) test drive -- what a difference (I dropped the controller to 6.5, and I think that may be too high -- a road trip will help me better adjust this). I haven't taken a longer trip yet... (I suspect that like putting new brakes on a car, it will take a few miles for everything to settle in and become "normal").
The only 'issue' was with the delivery of the materials. I am not sure what actually happened, but the installer seemed to think the materials would be delivered to my house, and Ron had indicated that one box would be delivered and the installer would have the rest. This was resolved quickly (within minutes) and everything was delivered to my house on the 1st day of the 2 day installation window. The installer asked if it would be ok to do the install on the second day so we could confirm that all parts were delivered before starting - a valid request. And the install did occur on the second day - which was within the scheduled installation window.
After the project was complete, the installer packed up and took all the old parts and packing materials. No mess for me to deal with... nice.
This is not a cheap upgrade, but I like knowing that I can stop my RV and Tow vehicle when I need to -- something I was very nervous about with the old electric brakes. I view this upgrade as a "piece of mind insurance policy"... I'll be a bit less stressed when traveling in high traffic areas.
So far, I am happy... and hoping all things remain that way. If this site allows it, I may update this review after I have put some miles on with the new breaks.
