I got a quote from Shawn with Bulldog Movers 3 weeks before I was to move. Shawn seemed very nice and was pleasant when providing an estimate to pack, move, and possibly store furniture, however our scheduled move turned out to be a nightmare! The estimate for packing and moving was high, but I decided to go with Bulldog Movers because I thought I was going to receive a “professional“ move and that Shawn would supervise the move. A day before the move three packers arrived with little notice. They packed 34 boxes in 5 hours and charged me $3,800. I questioned the amount and discovered multiple math errors. The woman preparing the bill also charged $155 per hour per person! Even after adjustments I was charged over $1,700 for 3 people to pack 34 boxes! On the day of the move two subcontractors arrived at 8:30 am to assemble a wooden crate for a large mirror. At 10:30 am the movers still had not arrived and my husband asked the men if they could check and see why the movers hadn't arrived. They called the company and were told that our move was “canceled”. (I had received an email from the company the night before confirming our move the next day.) I immediately called Shawn who did not answer his phone after multiple calls. I then called the person I received the email from confirming the move and she told me she had just found out our move was canceled. I asked to be speak to a supervisor as well as the owner and of course no one was available. Repeated attempts to speak with Shawn failed and he didn’t call me back until 1:30 pm to confirm that indeed our move had been canceled! Shawn showed little concern or empathy with our situation. By the time I verified the move was canceled it was too late to get another mover that day and I ended up having to split the move between two small moving companies on the next day. They didn’t have the tools or skills to provide a professional move and took advantage of my situation by over charging. I continued to call Shawn to get a refund for the deposit they had charged on my credit card a week in advance of the move, but he passed me on to Rubin in customer service who had to get permission to do anything. I was finally refunded half of my deposit. They kept the other half as “payment” for the 3 people who packed 34 boxes in 5 hours. If you read this, please share with others so they can avoid a terrible experience!
