If you're an adult and looking to try martial arts, steer clear of this "dojo". This place is unprofessional, predatory and abusive. When I signed up to "try" it out I was charged $200. I figured that was what the monthly cost would be but I was wrong because after the trial month I was pulled back into an office during class and told I should do the black belt course which I had no previous information about. I totally felt pressured but it seemed to be going well so I agreed to pay a portion of the $3750 that it would cost to complete the 2nd section of the black belt program. There are 8 section so I guess in total it would cost me $15000 to "earn" a black belt. In total I paid $2786 for 5 months of training, plus charged late fees that were not in the contract. When I told the instructor I needed to quit due to the stress and expense he did not offer for a refund even though I had not completed my training which I had already paid for. This place makes it sound like they are going to change your life but really they are going to take your money and make you super stressed. During training the instructor would try to make you bend your knees more or do something unnatural that put a lot of strain on your body. The instructor would call you an old lady and basically make you feel stupid for asking questions. I made the mistake of telling the instructor when I first started that I wanted to work on my posture and during one training he held up a staff next to me and said that's how I should stand. My hip was injured due to straining and the instructors feel like they can move/touch you in the name of martial arts I guess. This place totally takes advantage of vulnerable people who want to make a positive change in their life. Not cool
