I could not recommend this vet to absolutely anyone. This office has horrible breed bias, so don’t bother bringing a breed like pit bulls or malinois here or they will be automatically treated as aggressive. This office is outrageously expensive and will push unnecessary and pricey add-ons at every appointment. We have brought our dog here for a little over a year. She is a German shepherd who suffers from allergy-related skin issues and the occasional ear infection. On our first visit for her allergies they prescribed us a $70+ topical foam that can be purchased over the counter at PetSmart for $25. They have also been trying to convince us at every appointment that she is allergic to her food and that we need to buy their incredibly expensive prescription food, despite her allergies never changing when we switch food and her skin allergies get bad during the summer and go away. We got an allergy test that proved she had seasonal allergies, no food allergies, and they still continue to insist we need to buy their brand of food. She has received the same treatment for her ear infections every few months; pack some medicine in her ear and send her home. At her most recent visit they suddenly tried to push three different expensive medications that she had never required before and they were very judgmental when we decided to stick with the same treatment. Additionally, we have always been told she is a healthy weight. She actually LOST 2lbs since her last appointment and at this appointment they claimed she was suddenly overweight and, again, we need to purchase their prescription diet. I work with dogs for a living and I know for an absolute fact our dog is a healthy weight. Aside from the extreme inconsistencies in her visits that always require some unnecessary expensive add-on, I am furious and disappointed with the way my dog was treated at her last visit. She was sitting in the lobby with my partner when another customer walked by with her smaller dog. Our dog barked ONCE, and immediately stopped. She did not lunge, snarl, or bare teeth, and my partner held her close so the other customer could walk by. This customer went to the front desk and claimed that she could not leave because there was an aggressive dog blocking her from leaving; a complete over exaggeration. Without addressing the situation with us, they immediately moved our dog to another room, muzzled her, and had THREE staff members restrain her while she received her treatment that she’s had multiple times with no issues. This was obviously traumatizing and terrifying for our non-reactive dog that we have always been told she behaves very well at every visit. We were lectured and sent home with a pamphlet on how to train a reactive dog to behave at the vet and we should be muzzling our dog, completely ignoring that she has never had a behavioral issue at their office aside from a single bark and an over dramatic customer. I will absolutely not be returning to this vet office. They claim that their prices are high because they are a local business, but I have been told by MANY other local vets and friends that go to other Austin vets that we are being outrageously overcharged. The way she was treated so horribly at her most recent visit was appalling and infuriating. I will be actively turning other customers away from this vet.
