Located in Maple Grove, Minnesota, World Taekwondo Academy was founded by Grandmaster Byung Yul Lee in 1969. It was created to help people learn about the wonderful benefits of Taekwondo and martial arts. Today, we are still dedicated to educating, inspiring, and teaching people about the wonderful world of taekwondo. Taekwondo is a Korean martial art with a heavy emphasis on kicks. It was developed as a blend of indigenous Korean fighting styles of taekkyeon, gwonbeop, and subak, with influence from foreign martial arts, such as karate and other Chinese martial arts.
World Taekwondo Academy uses no contracts, or gimmicks, because we have total confidence in our programs. Our instructors are certified Black Belts, National Champions, Pan Am Champions, U.S.A. Team members, and U.S. and Olympic Coaches all with several years of practice and teaching underneath their belts – and that's why we were voted the best school in America in 2009 and 2010 by USA Taekwondo!
World Taekwondo Academy - Maple Grove Location's Grandmaster Eui Lee has over 30 years of training, and educating, students on how to incorporate structure and discipline all while having fun. Grandmaster Lee is the most successful Taekwondo athlete in the midwest area and the only professional Taekwondo athlete in Minnesota. At World Taekwondo Academy, our instructors provide a safe and fun atmosphere and work endlessly to help people master the art of Taekwondo. We have many programs that will fit the needs of any child or adult. We have classes for men, women, and children starting at the age of 3.
Taekwondo is an activity designed to be accessible and fun for people of all ages. Our programs are crafted for anyone with the desire to participate to be able to do so. Taekwondo teaches vital life lessons such as self-defense, self-confidence, respect, discipline, integrity, and so much more. These lessons can then be applied in academics, the workplace, and in a person’s personal life.
