Wish we had read reviews more carefully. We had a great experience with the tech who came to routinely service our HVAC, but we also had requested they come flush our water heater. That’s where the problems started.
1) we were not advised that it would be two separate techs (and therefore two fees) to do both, nor was it listed anywhere on their appointment form nor during our scheduling call.
2) the water heater tech took one look at our tank, googled the make and what the numbers meant, declared it out of warranty and therefore a bad idea to service, then gave a lengthy explanation about our heater that (of course) culminated in a sales pitch to replace the unit. She said she doesn’t service our make & its age renders a flushing ill advised. Why wasn’t this disclosed during scheduling? OBVIOUSLY we would decline someone coming out for $99 to explain how my water heater works and then to try and get me to buy a new one. So, because obviously that is a huge waste of my and their time, the only logical answer is to make a quick $99 for nothing. Extremely disappointing & misleading. When we called to complain they basically said “too bad, should’ve known better.” Nowhere on their website says they can’t service over a certain age/make. Their website actually claims the opposite—that they can handle anything. Screenshots below. Like..if I knew better I wouldn’t be calling for servicing are you joking? Even if you can claim we should’ve known about servicing it out of warranty, how would we know they refuse to service our make of water heater. Again, nowhere on their website & because they claim the opposite, this is false advertising.
