Unethical... My son went in to get his brake pads replaced. The technician reviewed the vehicle and came back with a $1500 estimate that included several up sale items. When we told the technician that we only wanted the brake pads replaced he got upset and pressured why we did not want the other items done at that time. We have had the vehicle since it was new and it has been regularly serviced by the dealership so were confident the other items were not imminently necessary.
A day after he left the shop with the new $550 break job he picked up my pregnant daughter and her husband to drive to a family gathering in Tahoe about 400 miles north. Within 100 miles the front end of the car started to vibrate and within a short time the vibration became violent. They were stuck in the middle of the desert on a 100+ degree day. After several calls they were able to find a mechanic willing to meet them on his day off. He inspected the vehicle and told them the break assembly was installed incorrectly and this caused damage to the front pads and rotors. He charged $450 to correct the problem. Following this emergency repair the car traveled all the way to Tahoe and back to San Clemente without issue.
I contacted the Ramona Tire district manager, Jose Fernandez. After several calls, email and texts and providing him with all the information we had including the name and number of the emergency repair shop, pictures of the damaged parts and proof of the payment to the other shop he reported back that the damage was caused by my sons heavy breaking and they would not take any responsibility.
So somehow for the first 50,000 miles my sons breaking had not been an issue then suddenly after they performed their work he was able to destroy a set of rotors within 100 miles... not plausible.
I believe they purposefully set my sons vehicle up to vibrate so he would return to the shop and they would tell him that it's because he did not have the recommended work performed. We have since brought the vehicle into the dealership and they confirmed that all of the other items the Ramona Tire shop claimed needed to be done were not needed.
I strongly warn everyone away from not only the San Clemente Ramona Tire but the entire company. They are crooks.
