I went to intake three months ago.
I have been going to A&C at the same location for 9years. I have had a psychiatrist, a therapist, and a skills specialist. When I was finally called and told that a therapist was available, two days before my appointment, I was left a message by a lady named Gabby (addictions specialist) who told me that she canceled my appointment with my therapist because I had to attend a group in Fountain Square. I told her that I did not drive and the reason that I go to Adult and Child, located on Madison Ave was because it is in walking distance. She said to take a Medicaid cab!
I spoke to her supervisor, Bethany Crismore-Arredondo who is an addictions outpatient specialist who told me that I needed to go to an, "introduction to therapy" group which was just started at the Madison Avenue location. When I show up for group none of the front desk staff had any idea about this group. I waited 40minutes until finally the leader communicated that there was a group 4 minutes before time.
The group was for addicts to hard drugs. I have never done drugs in my life, I have tried weed. There were 3 other meth users in group with me and I was told that we would be drug tested and need to see an addictions specialist.
Adult and Child is stigmatizing kids as drug addicts who are honest during intake about trying marijuana. This is exploitation of people for money to build up funds for addictions side of Adult and Child. I just wanted to talk to a therapist. I was never told this was a group for addicts. I was never told that we would be drug tested and that I had to see a drug specialist all because I was honest about trying pot.
